Are You Shaving Right?
Razor cut, burn, bump, after-shave irritation..you have swallowed it all in one manly gulp. After all you are not a barber by profession. Instead of enduring the pain or a frequent scar, might as well follow a few tips that will improve your shaving experience and leave you with a smoother shave.
1) Keep your hair well hydrated
Step one to a good shave is to ensure your facial hair is well hydrated. Take a good, long shower before you shave. If not a shower, at least wash your entire face and neck well. Hydrated hairs are weak and hence easy to shave off. Shaving on cold, dry skin leads to rashes.
2) Get the best shaving gel for your skin
Go for a cream or gel that makes up more lather and less foam. Choose one which lubricates well and has moisturizing content. Try a combination of tea tree & mint that has a soothing effect and works well on oily skin. Or go for lemon oil that is packed with astringents and anti-oxidants and will not cause a bruise easily.
3) Use your razor right
Make sure you use a good razor with a sharp blade and change the blade regularly. Rinse the blade under warm water with every few swipes. Shave in the direction of beard growth and for closer shave you can go for a second round. But don’t over-shave, that’s the primary cause of cuts and bruises.
4) Wash Your Face
Give your face a good rinsing with a face wash that removes any loose hairs and gives you smooth, squeaky clean look. Pat dry with a towel thereafter.
5) Dab some after-shave lotion
Your shaving routine is incomplete without an after-shave. The lotion will restore your skin’s lost moisture, and cool and refresh it after the shaving rigour.
